I/O CARD

This COMMANDER I/O function card interfaces 8 analog input signals to a companion Base/Expansion cardfile assembly.

Analog signals may be either unipolar (ie 420mA) or bi-polar (±10V) as the input circuit is differential in nature. The actual A/D conversion is carried out by circuits present on the unit's Base assembly. AI cards may also be installed in (any) Expansion cardfiles. Most process signal types can be properly conditioned to interface with this card.

RTD and Thermocouple devices require a transmitter module to amplify (and generally linearize) such high impedance signals within close proximity to the sensor. See loop transmitters on page 114.
